trouble in unraveling the intricacies in which Mr Rienaecher's accounts are discovered to be.
We have every reason to believe that the Balances delivered over to us on the 14th February last are correct, but we find classification to be rectified, errors to be checked, which makes our task laborious and tedious.
The Journals and Ledgers are various minor items we cannot discover, while the abstract Book exists only in single, and a Duplicate is necessary before we can proceed with the original.
Under these circumstances, we beg to request His Excellency to sanction the temporary employment of a Clerk fitted for the performance of Treasury Duties.
The Services of Mr. Neves, who receives £100 a year, might be dispensed with, as we do not consider him to justify Mr. Riensecker's recommendation, and if an additional sum of £150 be allowed, we hope to secure the assistance of an able clerk, and get the Treasury into order with the full amount of £250.
We have not before officially introduced this subject to His Excellency, and it is, we reflect, with regret that we feel our duty compels us to make the present application.
We do not wish to be thought imparting undue blame to Mr. Riensecker.
